The food was great! I had some difficulty with language barrier regarding my order, but it was straightened out once I was made what I asked for and refunded the difference. I would be sure to check any takeout order before leaving. Otherwise, the ambiance was a dive but that can be cool when you just want good food! :)

Good vibes inside. Ppl clearly like each other and like to be here. A little on the pricer side but they give a good amount of protein per serving. No pico at the taco bar tho.

Los Portales is hands down the best and most authentic mexican cuisine available in town. Walking into any Los Portales feels immediately authentic, and it is clear from the atmosphere that you're in for a treat. Sometimes I like to test my spanish skills and try to order in spanish, and the servers always are very tolerant of my mistakes lol. Definitely stop by here, the 3 taco platter and fajita quesadilla are too good to miss.

Quick service, the woman taking our order was very kind as well. Tried the chicken taco and carne asada taco and both were good. If you're in the mood for a quick lunch and beer this is the spot.

This little restaurant wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. If it had been any more expensive, I'd only give 3 stars. The menu is posted on the wall right when you walk in. Once you decided, you order at the counter and they give you a number for your table. They will then bring your food to you. If you order tacos, there is a very small salsa bar where you can grab some assorted extra toppings. With one steak burrito, and one combo it came out to around $20. I was kind of bummed that the tacos themselves didn't have much flavor to them... I was expecting more since it seems pretty authentic. The beans and rice were good though.

I look forward to coming back and trying more items here but the Crispy Tacos and Quesadilla are a must here. Back in the Bay Area we had a go to spot for crispy tacos and I've been missing them ever since. I was excited to see them on the menu here at Los Portales and also glad to find out that they are super tasty. They're listed on the menu as the "Dos Amigos" and you can order them with your choice of meat. The asada was my choice and it was really simple, but flavorful. They have a good salsa bar too-- the tomatillo (green) salsa was my favorite. Spicy & flavorful. The quesadilla seems like a popular option, and it was also really good. Definitely looking forward to a future visit (Get the crispy tacos!).

Not the first time, not the second time and certainly won't be the last time..... The online ordering system is great if you wanna grab and go some tacos and hang out on a beautiful day at one of the parks here in Wilmington. Don't forget to check out the variety of salsas and accoutrement on the toppings bar. You won't be disappointed. We had a variety of tacos and the shredded beef quesadilla was delightful. The only thing I didn't like was that there was guacamole and sour cream in my order when I asked there not to be but it made it taste good so I can't complain. The tacos got the two thumbs up from the California boy I was with.

This is the second Mexican place I've been do since moving to Wilmington. Both places are very similar in that you order at the counter and you get a number to place on the table for a waitstaff to bring your food. The first time I was here I waited in line with a bunch of Hispanic construction workers. The line goes quickly as the guys knew what they wanted. Maybe they come here often on their lunch break. I had a couple of tacos that were made with corn tortillas. It came with rice and beans. I'm not a huge rice and beans eater, but I ate all of it! The beans were creamy, not thick and dried out like other places. And the rice was tender and I could taste the flavors of tomato sauce. I told the manager (I think his name is Alejandro) how much I liked my meal and he asked when I would return, as he said he would like to wait on me. I thought that was sweet, even though you order at the counter. On my second visit with DH, I had the chicken quesadilla. It's packed with diced chicken and cheese and served with lettuce, guacamole and sour cream. DH had the Torta Melanesa, a fried chicken cutlet. They have a small 'salsa' bar that you can add to your food. Cilantro salsa, hot salsa, medium, cucumbers, etc. Along with our lunch we had drinks - Beer for DH and a lime margarita. Not too tart; and refreshing. I'll return here, although I am looking for a sit-down service Mexican restaurant to try.
